Biography

Dr Berlin Kafoa is a medical graduate who has completed his Masters in Public Health (MPH) from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and Fellowship in Public Health (FFPH) from the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom (RCP UK). Dr Kafoa is currently an Associate Dean at the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences in the Fiji National University and works closely with Pacific Island Countries and development partners in implementing health projects in Fiji and the Region including SSCSIP.

Biography

Originally from England, Dr Sinead Kado has been in Fiji for the last 20 years. Initially trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, she was a tutor for MBBS 1-3 and later the MBBS 1-3 coordinator at the Fiji School of Medicine. Her role within SSCSiP is to help Pacific Clinical Organisations develop their continuing professional development (CPDs) framework and assist with organization of their conferences. She has also been running Medical education workshops for Health Professionals in the Pacific to aid in the training of the new Cuban graduates.

Biography

Mabel Taoi has a background in Nursing, having graduated from the Fiji Nursing School in 1986. Mabel worked as a study nurse on the Fiji Pneumococcal Project (FiPP) and Traffic Related Injury in the Pacific (TRIP) research projects, before joining the Fiji National University Research Unit. She joined SSCSiP in 2012 as the Project Coordinator and her primary role is to coordinate and process capacity building requests and activities from the region, and with other stakeholders.

Biography

A biomedical engineering graduate from the University of Sydney (2008), Nehal Kapadia has gained a range of biomedical experience in a short span of time. With industrial experience from a leading Children’s Hospital in Sydney, Australia and first-hand experience in biomedical services in Fiji, her knowledge ranges from equipment maintenance, procurement to management of equipment. Nehal joined SSCSiP in 2012, providing assistance and guidance to the Pacific Island Countries in developing or improving their management of biomedical equipment and services, and coordination with fellow biomedical engineers in the region to achieve the goal.

Biography

Swastika Roy has a background in Finance, Management and Public Administration. Starting her career in a cooperate organization as a sales analyst she was later promoted to other financial roles before joining SSCSiP in 2010. As a Finance and Administration officer in SSCSiP, she provides support for efficient delivery of the project and is the key person for organization of the annual SSCSiP Heads of Health and Clinical Directors meetings which are convened with other stakeholders.

Biography

Avikali Tila is a student at the Fiji National University, completing her Diploma in Office Administration and has been a part of SSCSiP since 2014. Her role is to assist the Finance and Administration officer and has provided additional support for efficient delivery of the project.
