Perioperative Nursing Care in the Pacific

Perioperative services have been highlighted in various reports from visiting medical teams to the Pacific Islands, as an area of concern. There have been several attempts to address perioperative nursing training from various interested groups but these have been conducted in isolation and in an ad-hoc manner. Strengthening Specialised Clinical Services in the Pacific (SSCSiP) is working with stakeholders to improve the delivery of perioperative services in PICs.

Pacific ENT Technical Advisory Group

The Strengthening Specialised Clinical Services in the Pacific Program (better known in the Pacific as SSCSiP) was established in 2010, with funding support from the Australian government, in response to Pacific Island Country’s request for support towards strengthening their capacity to plan, manage, and improve their access to, specialised clinical services. Part of the mandate of the SSCSiP program also involved strengthening coordination of the support provided for specialised clinical services in the region.
